Given a steady increase in the number of cybersecurity incidents in the US, President Barack Obama, on February 12, 2013, issued Executive Order 13636 [1] entrusting the National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) the development of the Cybersecurity Framework for the protection of critical infrastructures, which is now known as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF).
